Shared hosting=No fmmpeg

Hello:
I am working on the Video for the filedatamanager and I have it installed and working in the CMS admin and I am now working on listing the video's on the page. I have the sample code and everything, but my hosting provider does not want to install fmmpeg and I am currently on a shared server.
I can convert all of my video's to FLV so that isn't a problem, but I was wondering how to replace the thumbnail with an icon or image. I am not really a coder and I am not 100% sure how to do this.
