Adding a video like I would add an image?

15 June 2010 at 5:17am Last edited: 23 August 2010 11:40am
I know this is a recurring question, but I can't seem to find a detailed answer. From what I have read, it's seems fairly simple to add an embedded video (Youtube, Vimeo) to a page, or upload one, for FFMPEG installed on the server to treat it.
However, there seems to be no clear solution for someone like me, to upload and add, say, several mp4s, or flvs (that I have compressed myself) per page and place them in the text area just like I would with images. The idea would be to click on a button in the TinyMCE, pick my video and insert it in the text, just like I would for images.
Please let me know if you could point to tutorials or simply more info. I have read about ImageDOM, but couldn't seem to find more info about it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did I get something wrong?
Was it the wrong place to ask the question?
Is there a place where I can find more information about adding video to a page, as I would add an image?

I think there's a button to insert Flash in the wysiwyg editor, but I don't think you can upload fresh media to it. I'd just use a FileDOM.
