Custom getCMSFields_forPopup in AssetsManager

I've written a custom getCMSFields_forPopup function for my DataObjects. Everything works well if the DataObjects get viewed within the normal page dialog. If I'd like to open the DataObject (which have files in) in the AssetManager the custom getCMSFields_forPopup function isn't used. Can I get the CMS to use my function?
