Cannot delete files from gallery

Hi Everyone
The install went fine as usual, I uploaded pics without a problem. However, some pics now need to come down, clicking the "delete" button avails nothing.
Upon testing with firebug i see this...
But am not sure what to do about it...

Make sure you're in dev mode so you can see the actual error. A generic 500 isn't much to go on.

I set it to dev mode... but I get no error, just the loading spinner runs ad infinitum...
Thoughts?
EDIT: Will DOM/image gallery freak out if I manually delete the images I want to get rid of?

Sorry for the bump, but I really do need to get this sorted soon, and it seems a little crazy to have to contract someone to fix a small issue like this.
