A few pointers on DataObjectManagera and ModelAdmin

30 June 2009 at 10:42am
Hi there,
I'm pretty new to SS so please bare with me - I'm looking to create a very simple CMS style backend, as illustrated with the ModelAdmin example video, and would like to introduce DOM (took me ages to work this out when reading this board yesterday considering it usual stands for Document Object Model!).
I realise that this type of use case isn't currently supported, but I was hoping a few more experienced people here could give me a few tips on what I should be looking for in order to hack it to bend it to my will? Which areas will be problematic with ModelAdmin?
Cheers,
Steve

The answer is I don't know. I'm not aware of what level of testing has been done with DOM in ModelAdmin. Personally, I have almost no experience with it. But It is on my radar. I've just gone through and made DOM compliant with AssetAdmin, which is a really nice feature. I'm expecting that ModelAdmin will be just as easy. I encourage you to try it, though, and let me know what, if any issues come up, so I'll know what to expect when I get into adding those features.
