setting up with payment gateways

Hi there. I think i'm missing something simple, but i just installed the eccomerce module, and latest payment module. The shop was added, I can add products etc, view the, but on the check out page I only get the option to pay by cheque.
I can't see any mention of the payment options in the admin area, so i'm assuming the payment module didn't install properly, or I have to configure that part of the shop through some php config files.
initially i just want to set up with the payment option
any help appreciated!

ok, eventually found the files here:
http://silverstripe-ecommerce.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/README
have more info in that the files included in the zip I downloaded off the silverstripe site. this should give me the info i need...
