Changing the quantity to weight

I have the website that needs a eccomerce system which the Silverstripe system seems to fit the bill perfectly and the CMS I have been using is great. The only problem I can foresee is that I need to have varying amounts of weights instead of quantity. So say the customer buys 250gms 500gms 750gms 1000gms 1250gms 1500gms etc. so 250gms will be "1" 500gms will be "2" etc and when you multiply with the price it will give you the cost for the items in weight. ie 500gms willbe 2x"price per 250gms"
Does this make sense.
Is there a way I can do this?
