Form Validation with ImageFormAction not working

I've got a few custom forms on a site I'm working on, and they are working marvelously when I use FormAction(). However, I need to replace the buttons out with images, and when I use ImageFormAction(), the validation stops working. Any ideas on why this might be?

Any ideas regarding this?
Ideally I'd like to use images to submit so that they can have a rollover state.
