Hi all, this might be either an easy one to solve or a very tricky one. I have the forum module installed on couple of websites and in the last few weeks they've been literally flooded by spam. The re-captcha module is installed correctly and works fine with the validation so don't really know what to do!

Any suggestions, tips?

Thanks in advance
Mauro

By the amount of kitchen design spams that get through to this place and that it is still manual spam filtering - I'm going to guess not much at the moment :(

Best I can advise is get it on your RSS reader and do it manually

We've tried a few automated things here (honey pots) and all to no luck. I think the next step (apart from people wanting to drop this and move to Stack Overflow) is we moderate the users first post which would prevent spam getting through but also increase the workload on moderators.

Another thing at the top of the list for forum is email validation (member profiles was going to be used for the registration)

Btw: what would be the reason that deleted spams still pop up in forum searches? Try searching for 'kitchen' just for the fun of it :) Is some kind of custom search used for these forums? Could the index be cleaned up?

ha!

As I recall the module marks it as spam to remove it from the normal function (and marks the user as suspended) - but that external [to the forum module] search I'll bet does not.
