Having trouble actually installing the module, Help!!!

Hi
Im new to using silver stripe, I really like it but really need the forum and event modules to work. I have looked around the documentation found no real solution.What I have done:
1. Placed the module in the root directory of the site with the folder named "forum"
2. I ran the following "http://localhost/silverstripe/index.php/db/build/?flush=1" as I thought from what I’ve read this added relevant tables onto the database?
3. Attempted to create a forum but the page type has not shown up in the drop downHave I missed anything?
Any help would really be appreciated as im not sure how this all works im just making assumptions haha

Right believe I have answered my own question haha Basically it was an issue caused by read and write permissions on the files for the site, it may help someone else in the future who happens to overlook this simple factor.

90% of my installation problems went back on wrong file permissions.
