A company I contract with is looking to bring onboard an extra developer or two for PHP, MySQL and Front-end tasks. It is a temporary gig but they are willing to extend a longer term offer if you mesh with them very well.

We are looking for someone who has extensive experience with OOP and MVC architectures, Wordpress, HTML5, JS, and JSON APIs. I believe most SilverStripers qualify because they use PHP, OOP and SS is a MVC framework.

We have recently begun working on a complex web application project, that uses SilverStripe as the underlying framework. To help with this work, and some of our other projects, we're seeking an experienced PHP developer, and obviously it would be great to have someone with SilverStripe experience.

The position would be a full time salaried position with Freeform Solutions, a not-for-profit corporation in Canada that provides IT consulting services to other not-for-profits.

The project involving SilverStripe is guaranteed to continue through to about September this year, and may very well go much longer, but that is dependent on funding for that particular project. Hi,

You may want to ask on StackOverflow - that is more active and will likely get some really good answers.
Depending on how complex the setup is, you may just be able to dump the previous db to create and insert statements, and then load those into mySQL.

Using something like phpmyadmin you can import from sql, csv etc.

I tried with a new installation adding module by module ...and the winner is: embargoexpiery. Downloaded the latest stabile version as well as the latest trunk. Same result.

The viewing of a page for groups and logged in users does not work while I have embargoexpiry as a module.

With this knowledge i found others describing the sam issue with embargoexpiry, but no solution so far.

Viewing permission does not work

I have updated to 2.4.7 and recognized that the pages which should be viewable for the "logged-in-users" or "groups" are shown to everybody now.

After testing different options like setting up a new database, deleting modules which also have been updated I did not find a solution.

I hope somebody has an idea. What can I do? Or is it a bug - I can not imagine - Am I the only one with this problem?

Forum loggin error

Hi all,

seems like i am the only one facing this problem:

I registered for silverstripe forum. Whenever i logg off i can not log in anymore unless i have a reset password link sent to my email. the link works fine, i am logged in and can change my password. When i logg off i can not logg in with my new password.

i use firefox7, have all scripts allowed in noScript Addon and cookies allowed.

Bizzar. Any ideas?

Beginner help / Emergency take over

HI Everyone,

Really excited to be using silverstripe, its a great system.. i am currently doing my first build and motoring through the tutorials.

I have one problem though... My site is due LIVE on Jan 30th and My wife is heavily pregnant (due in 2 weeks but, could go at any moment), i would love to have the cms installed and all tweaked, w/templates installed by the 25th Jan (week and a half).

I have almost finished creating all of the front end pages in flat HTML but i think the admin area and templates will take me a bit longer that i have. Would anyone be willing to quote on building the shell theme and mysite/code for me? then i can skin in the front end stuff as i complete it.

Here is a brief of the project:
- B2B website
- Menu 1: MAIN, default pages, contact form
- Menu 2: FOOTER, default pages, contact form
- Menu 3: PRODUCT LISITNG - Lisiting of products (3 category levels) (want to use the E-Commerce [v0.8.1] module incase they wish to add a cart later but that is not online transactions will be done at this stage)
- Distributor Listing (accessed from search panel on each page)
- Distributor Profile, inc data and images/logos
- Distributor Projects, inc data & images
- Distributor Contact Email Form
- Distributor Search

Have installed SilverStripe v2.4.6 on LAMP system, but possibly hosting final solution on Windows environment (not sure if this is an issue, but will be pushing to stay on LAMP)

I can create a wireframe of the layout and more detail on data fields required tonight.

How to automaticly backup Silverstripe files and database

Hello,

I have been searching for a way to automate the proccess of backing up my silverstripe sites. I looked at the modules to see if there is a module that can help on this, but there is only one module that helps on database only. I did a search in Wordpress plugins repository and I found that there are many options and one of them myRepono that I really liked as it worked smoothly on Wordpress (with plugin) and Silverstripe by using their API.. they provide a topup of 5$ for free which is for me 4 months of daily bachups (files and database)..

one reason why I chose the myRepono service is this:

...You may think your host keeps backups, but those of you who have ever tried to restore those backups will know it's often not that simple. Host backups are often out-of-date and worse than that, you will find the host unable to restore the backup or only able to restore the entire backup, restoring what you've lost but reverting everything else back to an older version...

I hope that someone would find this useful as I have spent so much time backing up sites through cpanel and downloading them again to my computer..

There were quite a few requests to join the partner program! Far too many to all let in, so that's there is the community developer network. I suggest you (if you haven't already) use the developer network as that hasn't the strict contractual / business agreements that the partner program requires/

Not sure who you were emailing but the guy in charge of the partner program is shane@silverstripe.com.au. It may help to contact him directly if you're dead set on a partnership!

Our company working last 4 years using SilverStripe and we made more than a 100 projects on SilverStripe, but when we were trying to contact HeadOffice — all our e-mails were ignored and still remain with no answer. Our company is the first who started using SilverStripe in Ukraine and I guess the only company that does this on professional level.

The simple idea is that most people I know have thrown away perfectly good shoes, gloves etc just because they've lost one, and can't use the other.

This website allows people to upload their remaining single glove shoe etc, and try and find a match. You can buy items, sell items, or give away items.

So, next time you loose one shoe (or even if you find one shoe) - don't throw it . List it!

Just notice that this is really old! But FWIW I've found that adding silverstripe and any modules as git submodules works really well.

git submodule add git://github.com/silverstripe/sapphire.git
git submodule add git://github.com/silverstripe/silverstripe-cms.git cms

You'll need to google git submodule to get a feel for how it works. Remember to go into the sapphire and cms directories and switch to the 2.4 branch.

Also, you'll need to remember that when cloning the project you'll need to use the '--recursive' argument to get the submodules. Either that or go:

git submodule init && git submodule update

Welcome to sivlerstripe!

As far as I know there isn't a UK developer course (or at least there wasn't one when I started a year and a half ago) - instead there are two books (http://silverstripe.org/books/), a series of tutorials & documentation (http://doc.silverstripe.org/sapphire/en/) and support on this forum or IRC.

I initially did use paid mentoring - but only briefly and it was mainly outsourcing small problems now I think about it. You'll mainly learn by reading over the above and asking questions here.

Photos don't display

Hi there,

I was wondering if anybody might be able to help me with a problem I've been having lately? I've been using the "Files & Images" tab to upload folders of images to the site, and then asking to display the images in each of these folders from within the page editing tab. This worked successfully until recently, but now on the published version of our website none of the images (from newly uploaded folders or from folders uploaded in the past) display as thumbnails - just a series of file names come up instead. Does anybody have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Looks really good, found a little bug.

In the Professional Template section, when your mouse is over the individual templates and you scroll your mouse wheel up and down the text below the picture scrolls up and down.
