Fontselect and Fontsize not applying changes

Hello,
Ok, I have the drop down menus on the tinymce editor but now no selections are applied size or font style. It seems to strip all font tags and reduces it to the smallest size in css. I am stumped where to find the problem. I have looked in typography.css but can't find where it would override like that. What should I be looking for? there are no errors except the exhibited behavior.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
