embed mpg or mp3

Hello Everyone:
I am looking at posting embedded video and podcasts on one of the pages on my website. I was hoping to find a module or instructions but haven't found any yet.
I am also not very strong in php so I was hoping for a fairly straight forward method.

i would go with short-codes:
