Hi everyone,

Through our entire site, we're creating a dynamic sidebar that the admin can edit in the CMS on a per-page basis. However, there is one section on the site (all the subpages of one main "Services" page) that will have - in addition to the editable sidebar, a small gallery of thumbnails in the sidebar - which will also be CMS controlled, as the gallery will be different for each page.

I'd really rather not create a new page type for these pages if I can avoid it, as they are fundamentally the same type of content, just with a slightly different layout.

Correct me if I am wrong but there is no way to create new CMS fields on only a subset of pages.

If I am right, and I do end up needing to make these pages a different type, what's the best way to hide this page type from the "Create" dialog, but still allow the subpges of Services to all be GalleryPage types?

There are a couple of ways you can accomplish this. Do you want to hide the pagetype from the create menu for certain users - or for everyone? In the latter case you won't be able to create them yourself... :-)
