Cookies and the UK E-Privacy Directive

24 August 2011 at 10:17pm
Hi,
Under the new UK laws, a site has to obtain permissions before it can store and read cookies on a users computer, unless its doing something to achieve a users request such as maintaining a shoping basket etc.
We are currently looking at redeveloping our website, and are in the process of choosing a CMS, and compliance is obviously a big factor for us. So, does SilverStripe use any cookies for an anonymous user? Does it have features that allow cookies to be turned on / off depending on a users response to a question?
Thanks

Hi,
Welcome!
As far as I know it only uses cookies for logging in - if you are using the core cms. Other modules may store data over and above this.
Here is a funny summary of the law for everyone else...
