Documentation/tutorial on creating CMS batch actions?

A very few forum entries refer to "batch actions" . I suspect that this could help me resolve the problem of translation of a whole tree (which I explained in another thread : http://www.silverstripe.org/general-questions/show/18621 )
Could you kindly point me to some documentation/tutorials/examples on the batch actions features?
