EntityRef error triggered during tutorial 2 (bad XML?)

Hi all,

I'm really enjoying going through these tutorials, but when I completed the "Allowing comments on news articles" section of the tutorial, after pasting $PageComments into the template, I receive:

This page contains the following errors:
error on line 116 at column 101: EntityRef: expecting ';'
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

I can fix it by removing the XML header from the top of the Page.ss template, but it would be good to track down and fix the root cause.
