Extending 3rd party ModelAdmin with extra managed objects

Hi,
I'm trying to extend a 3rd party's ModelAdmin using the Extension class with extra managed objects that I have extended their code with and wish to keep it all together.I can't seem to find any where on the internet where this is possible as I assume it must be.
Can anyone give me any pointers.
