CMS upload of media files

Only the upload of an SWF flash file seems to be successful. MP4 MOV etc, are not uploaded. No error msgs appear. If I manually add the files to the CMS Uploads folder, they still do not show when trying to upload from the edit page (I did issue "sync"). If I manually code the HTML and point to the media file, it is not found. Again, this all works with .swf media files. Any thoughts on what I am missing? Thanks, Rich
