Translator function and .ss files

I'm trying to use the translator function with some of my .ss files. When I add some script e.g <a href="http://www.silverstripe.com" title="<% _t('VISIT','Visit www.silverstripe.com') %>"> i get the following error: <b>Notice</b>: Array to string conversion in <b>C:\wamp\www\bcweb\sapphire\core\control\Director.php</b>; on line <b>358</b. No new files are created using the textcollector (I asume this is due to the error.)
Has anyone got any ideas why this is happeing? I'll buy you a beer if you do ;)
