Is it possible to have an ArticlePage that is included in RSS but not the sitemap?

When I uncheck "show in menu" for an ArticlePage news item, it disappears in the sitemap, which is what I want. Unfortunately, it also disappears as an item in the RSS feed. I want it to show up in the latter, but not the former (I mean, who really wants a sitemap with 500 news entries in it, anyway). I'm using 2.3.1... any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
