I have read elsewhere that people placed in the code in page.ss.

I have a footer that is common to all my page types/templates, so is it OK just to paste it there?

TIA.

Yep as long as that footer is included on everypage then it is fine. It is recommended that the google snippet is just above the closing </body> tag.

Would still recommend page.ss . As there are some more javascript thats included by SS before </body>

There was a module for this but I guess it does not support new google analytical code ga.js
