I recently tried SS but as its not for me, I removed from my cpanel. I was left with tmp and trust_path directories outside public_html which neither I nor my administrator can remove, and they are causing lots of error messages to be generated. My question is - How do I completely remove these?

Sorry, but these directories are not part of a SilverStripe installation. And why would they generate error messages?
Anyway: Since you apparently installed SilverStripe via cpanel, it is most likely a customized installer from your Hosting-Provider. You should ask them to remove the directories. But again: They are not part of a regular SilverStripe install...
