I was logged into the CMS admin panel using IE during the afternoon today. I went to the page in Firefox (not logged in there as an admin for the site or anything.) Saw that there was a piece of puncuation that I wanted to remove about the image above the fold. Switched over the IE and Silverstripe, removed the colon. Saved and published. Went back to Firefox, refreshed the site. The colon was gone, but so was all of the text below the image. I went back to IE and started looking at the versions. The one I made 30 minutes ago should have had the text that was below the image in it - but it was not there. Totally no text in any of the versions I did earlier today, despite the fact that I was very much on the site today with Firefox and Chrome at various times and watching the content get added. Any ideas where the content went? I have a feeling it is unrecoverable since it most likely is not in the database. Could there be a problem with the theme I am using or something else?

So, I have done some narrowing down. It seems to be related to IE. If we update it from within IE, it displays in IE. Are there known problems with formatting content from within IE 6, 7 and 8?

A quick scan through Trac for such bugs didn't turn up anything
http://open.silverstripe.com/

The CMS does updates via AJAXy methods. It is possible TinyMCE was getting updated with your content via a innerHTML() call but that data was not actually being written to the DB or published. That would explain why you saw it in the CMS but in the actual revisions there is nothing.

I have had this happen to me when I get automatically logged out of the CMS but a popup blocker stops the notification/redirect from happening. I still thought I was logged in, but in fact the javascript was still working on the page yet saves failed.
