Webhotells unsupporting scripts

12 February 2009 at 4:38am
Hello,
well topic is perhaps harsh but I live in Sweden and all web hotells i contact sais that they dont support SS.
This is a common thing when it comes to Php-scripts I download or buy/thinking of buying.Always the same thing with mod_rewrite and other things. They claim its a securety reason.
Must I have my own server to be able to really have a maxximized website?
I have used asp since school time due to the problems php always putt me when wanting to do a page. Why does php scripts like open source use such things that isnt a normal setting for webhotells?
I might sound ignorant here
sorry.
But its frustrating to find a tool you like alot and cant use. -

I'm also looking for a webhotell in Sweden to set up a Silverstripe site. Can you please tell me the name of the webhotell that you use?
