Website Footprint

24 June 2009 at 6:09am
Hi there
So far I love what I see - I have tried the demo site and found it to be very intuitive.
I have downloaded and "un-zipped" it but found it to be approx 25Mb in size.
Can anyone provide feedback / comment on the smallest possible footprint of Silverstripe.
Obviously the size will change based on what modules are installed / what images are uploaded / etc but I would like to gain an initial understanding of what disk space is required and therefore what sort of hosting plan I should be looking for.
Thanks
Nigel

You could probably shrink it a fair bit if you knew exactly what features you were going to use, but I wouldn't advise doing it.
It will:
- make it harder for people here to help you with issues
- make it harder to upgrade
- make it harder for you to use modules and widgets developed by othersIf you've never developed with SilverStripe before, you probably are not in a position to decide which bits you can do without.
Is space really an issue? SiteHosts plans start at 5 gig of space.
