Dark horse asked...
Hi Gareth.
Please can you help.
I think I'm suffering similar problems to you attempting to install SilverStripe on a Fasthosts Linux server. (150mb MySQL for Linux DB)
Would it be possible to ask how you managed to solve your problem.
Below are the Requirements I'm failing on:
1. Is the .htaccess file writeable?
User 'domain???' needs to be able to write to this file:
.htaccess
2. Server software
I can't tell what webserver you are running.
Without Apache I can't tell if mod_rewrite is enabled.
3. mod_rewrite enabled
I can't tell whether mod_rewrite is running.
You may need to configure a rewriting rule yourself.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, DH.

Dark horse,
Regarding the .htaccess issue, if you haven't already, you need to create a file in the root of the web directory called .htaccess, and then set the priveledges on that file to writeable (i usually set to 777). That'll solve that!
Regarding the mod_rewrite. That module is installed, but fasthosts have done something weird, so you should be able to go through and install from there.
Let me know if that works / doesn't.
