Hi Everyone,

I hope this is the right place to post this request... if it is the wrong place, (or inappropriate?), then let me know.

I am looking for 4 or 5 volunteers to test my UK hosting environment with Silverstripe. I want a range of experience levels, from complete Silverstripe newbies, to seasoned pros. (Ideally I'd also find someone with a existing large site they can move across, to test it in heavy action, but I appreciate that might not be possible.)

I would be looking for input & opinions to refine my Silverstripe install instructions with a view to making a commercial release of my Silverstripe hosting environment sometime in the future.

In return for your help, you'd get to keep your fully featured hosting account for the rest of the year for free to do what you wanted with, and no commitment to stay beyond that year.

If you might be interested in helping out, I'd need to know you approximate level of Silverstripe skill (so I can get a cross-section of skill levels), and say whether you have an existing site you could try a migration with (could be just from a backup of the main site, you needn't take it live on my hosting unless you wanted to!).

Ideally, between us we'd be able to cover all the main modules & widgets too, to make sure we iron out all the problems.

If you think this could be of interest to you, then you can reply in this thread, (or send a PM if you prefer).

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, still looking for volunteers?
Are you providing Windows or Linux Hosting?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the interest.

Looking back at my post in light of your questions, I realised I'd said very little about the hosting platform itself.

I'm using Red Hat Linux, on Dell servers with parallel redundant disk arrays in a proper data centre. I do have Windows Hosting too, but I'm not looking to push Silverstripe in that direction at this point in time, so the current testing will all be on the Linux platform. Once Linux platform is ready for the Silverstripe prime time, there might be a similar opportunity/offer to test the Windows Platform in the future, but that would be decided at a later date.

I have a few, very basic Silverstripe sites already up and working, and have basic install instructions which I think make the process quick and simple.... hopefully you can test my instructions, and together we'll iron out any gremlins you find.

In the interests of commercial sensitivity (for now), I'd hidden my business email address from my profile, but then realised that these forums don't support PMs! I've just set up a googlemail account which I'll switch into my profile, so that you can email me directly. If you want to join the trial, you'll need to email me, then I can fire over some details for you to fill in and we can you started.

Thanks for taking the time to reply here.

IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR THIS TRIAL, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR SILVERSTRIPE FORUM USERNAME IN THE EMAIL.

If you have any more questions, then ask here, or drop me an email:

Hi

We'd be interested, we're looking at moving a number of sites to Silverstripe in the near future. In addition to this, we have a large project (which we're quoting on at the moment) for a college which involves the main website together with significant media requirements.

Would be interested in discussing things with you if you are still offering testing opportunities.

Kind Regards
Pete Fernando
