Ecommerce Safe Mode install problems

Hi, I'm relatively new to Silverstripe and I hope someone will be able to give me directions for this problem I'm facing.
The installation of Silverstripe on my web server was OK but when I upload the Ecommerce module I get the following message before even installing it by logging on tp mysite/db/build. I have also tries running the db/build command but that gives the same result:

Website Error
There has been an error
The website server has not been able to respond to your request.
-----------Can this be because my web server has Safe Mode enabled? If so I'm in real trouble as it cannot be disabled.
Any help is welcome!
