Hi,
I have been running Silverstripe for a while on fasthosts.co.uk for my own site. I was originally using 2.3, but upgraded the neccesary files recently to 2.4 with little trouble.
I have just started attempting to install 2.4 onto a new site also hosted by fasthosts.co.uk, but going to the base url gives me the following error:
----------------------------------------------------------
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at www.madelinebalaam.co.uk Port 80
-----------------------------------------------------------
I have to go straight to http://www.madelinebalaam.co.uk/install.php to get the install page but I am told:
-----------------------------------------------------------
All Requirements Pass but 1 Warning
URL rewriting support You need mod_rewrite to use friendly URLs with SilverStripe, but it is not enabled.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If I try to install I get back to the 500 error.
I had assumed I just needed to get the host to enable mod_rewrite, but they tell me it is.
And it appears to be working If i try the test on this website: http://www.wallpaperama.com/forums/how-to-test-check-if-mod-rewrite-is-enabled-t40.html
I have freshly downloaded 2.4 again to see if that would solve it and it wouldn't. I have also tried copying over the files from my own site, and that doesn't work either.
Is there something else I can try? I'm completely baffled by this and have spent over 6 hours just trying to install a fresh installation.
