Hi. I can't get past the first install page. I have ftp-ed SS to the root of my domain, created a MySQL Database and User using Cpanel and am stonewalled by this error: "I can't create new databases and the database 'flyingne_ss01' doesn't exist. Please create the database manually."

I have attached a screenshot of the cPanel MySQL page so you can see that the database really is there and not misspelled.

Am I missing something obvious?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I have a phpinfo() file at flyingmonkey.net.au/info.php
PHP = 5.2.17
MySQL = 5.0.92

Do I need to change permissions somewhere? Change the install.php file?

Help...

You don't need to change the install.php file. A database connection consists of user, pass, db and server - can you check this all works by using something like http://www.heidisql.com/download.php on your local host. and then if it doesn't contact the support department for your host to get it working.

If you can connect but still see the error then I am stumped.

Thank you Swaiba. Please excuse my ignorance, ... to use heidisql do I need to download and install Wine on my Linux server first?

Thanks again Swaiba. I went back to cPanel and realised I had missed a step in assigning the username to the db. All good now!
