Hi there,

I have been developing websites for about a year now using wordpress and the pods cms plugin, thought it would be a good time to move into a more powerfull CMS and thought I would give Silverstripe a go.

Yesterday I tried to install it on a dev server and play around with it...the install went pretty smoothly but I ended up getting a 403 error when trying to edit posts and do changes through the backend of the CMS.
After doing abit of research I sort of concluded that it could be to do with the install being on a sub-directory so I decided to do a new install on a fresh domain...

Upon installing on a fresh domain I got a new error on the install to do with not being able to find the silverstripe-cache folder.
Apparently in silverstripe 2 you just make a silverstripe-cache folder in the root directory and this solves everything but in silverstripe 3 this does not work.

I read this article http://www.silverstripe.org/installing-silverstripe/show/20055 and did the changes suggested, it got rid of the error message on my install but now when I try to edit pages or do anything through the backend I get a 404 Not Found error.

This install is becoming a nightmare, really not sure of what is going on.
Is silverstripe 3 really that hard to install?
Am I missing something that is quite simple?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would really like to start using this CMS for future sites

Thanks

Chris

Did your server pass all the installation requirements (including mod_rewrite) with no warnings?

yeah, the only thing I would get a warning for was the magic quotes thing, but even when that was set to 0, false or Off it would still get an error...
