HI,
I've tried all sorts of tricks and spent hours of my time trying to get SilverStripe on Linux Mint localhost installed, but I still have this message
You need mod_rewrite to use friendly URLs with SilverStripe, but it is not enabled.

Please someone post the required contents of the .htaccess file before I just delete the whole lot....thanks!!

You need to ensure mod_rewrite is installed (a2enmod rewrite on the command line) and AllowOverride All is set for the webroot you're installing SilverStripe in (usually involves changing the existing setting from None to All in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default)
