I want to copy my live site back to my computer/localhost (windows).

I have another site that is installed successfully on localhost.

I have copied all the SS files to a folder under wamp/www and exported the database.
Then I created a new database and user, and imported the database.
Changed the database settings in _config.php.

After dev/build?flush=1, the website has the correct theme but only the default pages.

Hours/days later, I have chased every 'red herring' I can find.

Is it simply that you can only have one website under wamp/www or can someone please point in the direction the problem is likely to be hiding?

Thank you.

Solved!

It was the small matter of using a different name for the new database. I found a reference in an old post that referred to this issue.

This begs the question, why did creating a database with a new name cause a problem when shifting the site from the web server to localhost when it didn't when shifting the site from localhost to the web server?

(on the plus side, I know a lot more about identifying errors.)
