Deploying SilverStripe on Cherokee Http Server

19 December 2008 at 4:58am
Cherokee is a very fast, flexible and easy to configure Web Server. It supports: FastCGI, SCGI, PHP, CGI, SSI, TLS and SSL encrypted connections, Virtual hosts, Authentication, on the fly encoding, Load Balancing, Apache compatible log files, Data Base Balancer, Reverse HTTP Proxy and much more. So it's a great alternative to Apache2, even more if you have a high traffic site.
I am trying to migrate from apache2 to cherokee for this site www.scz-learning.com.
I had no issues with the last rev of SilverStripe the 2.3 version, but with the stable version 2.2, It force on every link on my site to be handle by https! o_O? ¿Why? I don't know.
Anyone had a clue about this?

Hi Mario,
I recommend that you upgrade your site to v2.3. It's pretty stable already and the stable release isn't far away.
Thanks,

Sorry for the silence - I'm in vacation now.
To get SS working on Cherokee server you need to setup 2 redirection rules:
1. for index.php
2. for not existing files & directories.Let me show it in pics:
All rules (you must have the same order),
Rule for index.php
Rule for notexisting files

Gizmo - would be good to have this info on the wiki under installation on existing web servers http://doc.silverstripe.org/doku.php?id=installation

Do you want me to write article in wiki or you can do it yourself?
I'm not familiar with wiki
, but I can try. -

Well if you could just post those images / basic text instructions that would be great. Editing the wiki is pretty straight forward - you'll need to signup for a separate account (the wiki / forum use different logins) then add the content to http://doc.silverstripe.org/doku.php?id=installation-on-cherokee and then update the http://doc.silverstripe.org/doku.php?id=installation page to include a link to the cherokee page.
