Hi, I'm being driven crazy by a problem I'm having with a site hosted on Webdrive. It's using 2.3RC2 and has been running fine in a subdomain for weeks. I moved it into the main domain and it seemed to work fine for a few hours, then suddenly we couldn't get into the admin area anymore - it just returned a plain white screen. After refreshing it alot with things like isDev and showtemplate it suddenly started working fine again. Except for the Asset Admin page, which still just had a white screen.
So I tried upgrading to SS 2.3, that made the entire site just return empty white screens - even the frontend. So I reverted it to the release candidate but now the whole admin area is inaccessible again. Just more empty white screens.

I contacted Webdrive and just got a vague response that SilverStripe loads alot of files and isn't really suitable for use on shared hosting, which doesn't really help since I have a dozen other SS sites running on Webdrive without any problems. Their error log isn't recording any errors at all, even ones I've seen on the screen, so that also doesn't help. I tried ini_set("memory_limit","56M"); and it makes no difference either.

Does anyone have any clues what the problem could be? I'm just completely stumped.

A white screen is a sign that you've got display_errors set to off. If you put your site in dev mode and set display_errors to on, you should get some more info.

Thanks for the reply...I'd tried it with "show_errors" on, which makes me feel a bit stupid right now.

In any case, doing that made the admin area work as normal (with no errors showing up or anything) but has no effect on the white screen in Files and Images.

It seems the main admin works now even if I turn off display_errors and dev mode. I'm almost getting afraid to touch it :P

OK for the record it looks like the problem was PHP being in safe mode, which I didn't realise it was. I turned safe mode off and it's working fine.
