Hi

Am trying to set up SS for the first time on a XP machine. The machine has no webserver set up so I decided to go this route http://www.silverstripe.org/installing-on-windows-now-easier-thanks-to-microsoft-web-platform-installer/.

MySQL is set up successfully. But I ran into a problem with the wpilauncher.exe.

When I run it, it says, ".NET 2.0 is a prerequisite for the Microsoft Web Platform Installer. Click OK to download and install...".

When I do that, I get a windows dialogue error box entitled, "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem", saying, "...The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction..." and some path info. And I can get no further.

Can you advise please?

Many thanks,

Thanks. Have asked someone at MS to answer your question.

In the meantime, have a look over in the IIS forum to see if there's a solution: http://forums.iis.net/1155.aspx

Hi Sigurd

Still having problems with the WebPI. For an update, please see http://forums.iis.net/p/1156575/1899542.aspx#1899542.

If you have any thoughts it'd be appreciated.

Hi

I decided to abandon the WebPI install route as it was just all taking a bit too long to resolve. Instead, I decided to install SilverStripe over WAMP.

WAMP has installed fine and all services are running. SilverStripe files have been unpacked to the \www\ directory.

However, when I try to hit 'http://localhost/SilverStripe' for the first time to run the install, I get an error message, "Parse error: parse error in D:\wamp\www\SilverStripe\sapphire\dev\install\config-form.html on line 178".

Interestingly, I took a look at that file and it's only 177 lines long :-)

Can you advise?

Many thanks,

I am sorry to hear about the issues running the install on WebPI. :-( I checked out the thread on the IIS forums as well. We have been seeing a bunch of issues related to proxies -- we are going to release a new build of the WebPI that addresses this issue in the next week or so. You don't have to install new bits to get the build. If you have WebPI on your computer, it will upgrade itself when the build is available. That build should solve the problems that you are seeing. Sorry about the difficulties and thanks for your feedback -- it helped us identify a problem that we are going fixing now.

Thanks,
Mai-lan
