Possibly due to XP and IIS?

7 October 2009 at 5:03am
I've installed MySQL and WebPI, but when I get to the second stage of the WebPI installation a message box comes up saying:
"The application "Web Platform Installer" must be launched to open the link:
wpi://SilverStripeCMS?"When I click on 'Yes' a Microsoft web page appears and just stays on "Launching Web Platform Installer 2.0. Please wait. To return to the page you were viewing, please click here." forever without changing.
I'm running XP and have seen the note about configuring the IIS - but how do I open IIS Administrator - I don't know where to find it.
Thank you, Ruby

Hi there,
all you have to do to access the IIS Administrator is go to the 'Administrative Tools' in your Control Panel and select 'Internet Information Services'.
Hope that helps!

Hi - thank you. I've had a look in Administrative Tools but there isn't an Internet Information Services option - I'm now wondering if it is because I have XP home edition rather than Pro. I've also looked at the Add/Remove Windows programmes option - but no IIS there either. Is it possible that Silverstripe doesn't work with XP home edition?

Just found this: "ISSUE: Due to a bug, the Web Platform Installer 2.0 Beta installs on Windows XP Home Edition. Windows XP Home doesn't include IIS, however, and therefore the Web Platform Installer 2.0 is not supported on XP Home Edition."
