Future Plans

Is there a official place where I can find informations about your future development?
Right now I checked;

http://groups.google.com/group/silverstripe-announce
and the forum here.All platforms seems a bit "used" but not really up to date or I could not find an roadmap which describes what fixes, features will be focused in the next versions. More precisely I was wondering if there will be a major revise of the backend's ui. After finishing a silverstripe project I must say the development was very comfortable but the backend feels a bit clunky and old-fashioned. Event the functionality isn't old-fashioned.
Please let me know if there are some plans in this direction where I maybe even could help. -

Thanks for your replies. Sure I have seen the roadmap on trac, but there are no details on which feature they are working on. the thread on google groups was more what I was looking for. Thanks a lot.
apiening, do you know if there is any beta program or anything like that?
I guess that would be announced also on the dev group.Thanks you.

you mean 3.0? no, it is still in the design phase. the dev group is the best place to get updates on the progress.
if you are just curious what the current status is and what people are working on you can always svn checkout the current branch (2.4) which is slightly ahead of the latest stable release or trunk which contains some more changes (careful, potentially unstable, just for playing around). but both have nothing to do with 3.0
