How do you customize or change the admin template

7 May 2010 at 10:42am
Hi all,
Is it possible to change the admin template without editing the core files?
Can I create a template that exist in mysite and if so, how do I go about doing it.
I understand how to make front end templates but don't know about backend.

What specifically do you want to do? What do you want to change?
There is the simplify module that allows you to customise to the cms:

If you just want to change simple colors and a few images then the CMS does have the automatic functionality to load a 'editor.css' file from your theme. You could create one of those if it doesn't exist already and override the styles by new ones in that editor.css file as much as you would like.

Wow thanks,
sounds just like what I was looking for. I don't want my changes overwritten on an upgrade.
is there documentation on it.

I think editor.css only overrides the wysiwyg editor. I am starting to theme the admin and finding it pretty tough to do as it brings in style sheets from the cms as well as the sapphire dirs. Anyone know a better way of theming the admin without having to go into those core dirs?
