Form validation with submit images not working

I've got a few custom forms on a site I'm working on, and they are working marvelously when I use FormAction(). However, I need to replace the buttons out with images, and when I use ImageFormAction(), the validation stops working. Any ideas on why this might be?

You can put the images into the buttons using css.
Is this not an option?
