Changing the default template - BlackCandy

Hi Guys...
I am new to Silverstripe...
As mentioned in Tutorial 1, I am following all the steps to do the changes in default template - BlackCandy...
But I can not see the changes even after flushing the page...by appending ?flush=1
Instead of selecting empty template I selected BlackCandy...when installing silverstripe..
And now I want do few changes...
On the other hand, if I do changes in the changes in Themes folder...I can see the changes...
Bit confused whether you can do the changes in defult template or do i need to select empty template option..
If so, how to switch from balckcandy to empty template option????

Please don't double post. I already answered this in another thread.
You added an extra question here, but to change your theme you need to edit your _config file and change the line in reference to themes.
