Error publishing an ErrorPage

When I try to Save & Publish and error page I get the following error:
Error opening file "" for writing. Please check file permissions.
I am running IIS 7, on Windows Server 2008.
Does anyone know what permissions I need to change?

Well I managed to solve my own problem. I hadn't given write access to the assets folder.
I now have a slightly different problem. I am not getting my error pages appearing on the site, instead I am getting the usual ones. Does anyone know why this could be?
