Different header pictures based on parent

Hello. I want to have a different header for every page, based on the parent (so if the first level is "About us" I want "Contact Us" which is it's child to have the same header). Is there a way to get an if statement to check the parent of a page? I didn't have any luck when I tried.

this topic might help you, http://www.silverstripe.org/template-questions/show/254016#post254016 a had some problems with it but got it working now.
