Trying to convert a website template to a SilverStripe theme but failing miserably

Hello
I am trying to convert this website template, but am simply unable to to do this. I have no knowledge whatsoever in css and limited knowledge in html. I am decent with computers in general though. How can I accomplish this? -

I have just launched an SS tutorial site with a tutorial on turning a template into an SS theme. Check it out here:

In general its always useful to have some knowledge of CSS, so if you get some time have a look through this site:
