Page Content widget not displaying in admin panel

Hi all
I've just installed Peter Anselmo's Page Content widget, hoping to display it on my home page.
It seems to have installed with no error, and I've enabled widgets on the home page, but it doesn't show in the widgets panel.

Since this was my first widget-installing attempt, I also installed the HTML Content widget which works fine, displays in the admin panel and on the rendered page.

I'm using SS v2.3.6 and the widget is v1.0.0

Any ideas?

Remove Title SubscribeRSSWidget

Hello Folks, I like to remove the title from the SubscribeRSSWidget. I have copied the WidgetHolder.ss file to themes/yourtheme/templates folder and add in the changed html.

Hamish's Twitter Widget Pack v0.11

Slick as it is, I'm having an issue with a popup asking to authenticate my twitter username and password before i can proceed. And it wants to authenticate any visitor that come to the site.

I've checked out the .php files for the particular piece of this widget pack but once again my code ability falls short.

is there a work around for this? do i have to go to Twitter and make an adjustment?

calendar widget error

Hi, i have installed the event calendar widget. It works fine in Firefox, but not in IE7 and IE8. The widget is showen but events are not marked and they are not linked to the calendar. after a modification in EventCalendarWidget.js Line 27 it works in IE, too.

I have changed var year = 1900 + date.getYear(); to var year = date.getYear();

Firefox is still working, too.

In the eventcalendar page it is still not working. The calendar is showen for a second and then it is gone.

Thanks for your reply. I tried putting $SidebarWidgets in the SideBar.ss code as you recommended, but the rss widget does not appear on my page. When I place $SidebarWidgets in the Page.ss (/templates/Page.ss), directly under $Layout, the rss widget appears, in the sidebar, but underneath the sidebar menu, so it doesn't have the nice formatting of the sidebar menu, it's just plain links. If I remove $SidebarWidgets from the Page.ss code, it disappears. No matter where I place it in the SideBar.ss code, it doesn't make the widget appear. Looking at the layout.css, I see the #Sidebar section, but I don't know what I should modify in there.

Widget with MultiLanguage content

Hello.

I have been trying to make multi language widget. The problem is that, when I choose another language (not English) widget doesn't get data according this language.

Index page (where I added widget) getting new locale after language switch, but widget not. If I am right widget doesn't have locale field at all.

How can I get site locale in widget? Any suggestions?

Hi!

Usually the best place to put the "$SidebarWidgets" is inside the same div as the sidebar. Specifically for the Nouveau template I think it should be inside the SideBar.ss , at the end of the file - just before the last div's end tag.
So the file should end with:

      <div class="clear"></div>
   </div>
   $SidebarWidgets
</div>

If it still not good enough you modify the css for the "sidebarBox" div (under the layout.css)

I installed your widget manager, and it's very nice. I have a question though - I'm using Nouveau template, and when I go to add more than one widget (rss feed, specifically) to a page, there is quite a vertical space between them. Is there a way to close up the space so they are vertically closer to each other?

Adding widgets to page.php - sidebarID error

Hi all,
I am trying to add widgets to my page.php file but am getting the following error when running dev/build:

[User error] Couldn't run query: ALTER TABLE 'Page' ADD 'SidebarID' int(11) not null default '0', ADD index 'SidebarID' (SidebarID) Duplicate column name 'SidebarID'

I have tried dropping the SidebarID columns from the tables in the database and letting it rebuild, but then while the dev/build completed successfully I faced another error and display problems in the CMS after doing this so have had to restore the old tables.

The site previously had widgets enabled, but then for some reason the code got removed (no idea how or why). Now this is happening when I try and put it back in.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to fix this?

Hi, I am interested in the same thing; having multiple widget areas (left and right column).
I have not found any good solution for it. I guess you could render it from the controller as described in

http://doc.silverstripe.org/doku.php?id=widgets#extending_and_customizing

but that will not give you the admin control that you want.

It would be a killer feature for SilverStripe to support more widget areas, but I have no idea if that is in the road map.

Radio Button and Text

I have tried the contact form and I note that other people have been having the same issues when defining text. How can I get the text to be formatted to the right of the radio button and not the currently badly formatted way which is below. See attached file.

I also have the same problem, by editing the function FormAction in WidgetForm.php you might modify where the action is redirected.
However, I can't get the doAction function to work, it seems that it never get's there...
Can someone help ?

It is really unsatisfying to get no answers at all, I mean it would be nice to hear something like, " These fields are not supported in widgets. ". Me for my part try to post more, and hope that helps someone.

what a shame no one was able to answer this simple question. I had a deeper look in the cms and sappire code. It turns out that the duplicate functions (one page or with children) ignore any relations. I mean it is principle fine to do so, but in case of a has_one relation with an widget area u run in trouble by just duplication the page table entry and keeping the widget area id. Duplication is atm not an option anymore because of this issue, what a shame.

I could hack the code and create with the duplication of a page on the fly widgetareas but this would require changes to the core, and I would like to avoid that. Is there a easy way to extend the sitetree methods.

UncleCheese, thanks very much for the workaround class. I especially like the way you can just change the name from TreeDropdownField to SimpleTreeDropdownField in the fieldset and it works.

File Upload in Widget does not work (backend)

Hello all,

I want to create a widget. The widget has the possibility to upload an image in the backend area. In the frontend the widget just outputs the image. Basically the widget works fine. But somehow the File Upload never works. The widgets appear in the database, but they always get FileId 0. If I set the FileId in the database to a proper/existing value the outputted site looks perfect.

Thats my code:

if I use ImageField instead of FileField then the backend does not even appear.
Is there something special with file uploads in widgets?

Possible bug in the duplicating page and children functionality

Hi there I have just a bug, but I dont know if its expected behavior. There is the following scenario.

Your page class has a widget area (which is the relation to that forum).

You have a holder page (inherits page) with lots of child (inherits page) pages. Then u duplicate the holder with all its childs. This means for me I create new pages, and it does create new pages. The problem is it does not create an WidgetAreas in the WidgetArea table --> for the new pages. It just refers to the page from which u have duplicated. So if you now change a widget in one holder page you change the widget in other holder page as well, and this is just not how I would expect it. I would like to change my widgets for every page how i need them and thats not possible if u duplicate in that way. Is there something I can do, maybe a setting to force the system to create new widgetAreas for the new pages .

Atm I need to do that manualy in the database and that is a bit pain in the ass (ups sorry).

Is that a bug or expected behavior ??

I was able to correct the issue with Tiny MCE by applying the fix that FungshuiElephant referred to in this post http://www.silverstripe.org/widgets-2/show/258893?start=0#post261255

I am using SS 2.3.4 and dont have any other widgets in use, so I am not sure if it affects other widgets, but it loads the Tiny MCE HTML editor properly on every visit to the Widget admin area.

This fix also works to correct the issue with Tiny MCE in the HTML Content Widget. I do not currently have any other widets installed, so I was not able to determine how it affects other widgets. This is with SS 2.3.4

Okey I found stupid mistake

Id widget object was used variable "Type", and i in db added same variable name too. I thing that it was problem now worked fine

some how are missed insert off data what stored from cms and widget object. When I fill manually it editing works perfect data, but first insert goes wrong...

I'm installed SS wrote my own widget it does not mater, becouse problem on widget object save. When I drag in "using widgets", showed widget box and I'm fill what need, but when I push save and publish (or just save), having good sign - green indicator whit message saved.
But Trully its not that how looks When I refresh my saved page widget was gone. I investigeted, in db not properly saved data, widget object data has missed...
What whe crap? )) I working with SS more that year, what developer guys did here some improvments in change log or docs I did'n found

How solve quikly this bug?

I have the same issue in 2.3.5. Can someone from the admins or core developer check this issue. I have found a 2 year old thread with the same issue. I mean this must be known, and eventually there is a fix somewhere which I really need.
