Welcome to winter! As June begins and temperatures drop, the SilverStripe crew will be swapping their pies and comfort food for fruit and veg—because it is also the beginning of Junk Free June, aka JFJ or #junkfreejune.
Junk Free June is running for the second year and is a not-for-profit organisation that supports the Cancer Society of NZ. Working in the tech industry, a lot of us balked at the idea of giving up that sweet, sweet caffeine. But the beauty of JFJ is that YOU decide what junk you want to cut down on. The ultimate goal is to encourage better choices and more consumption of illness-fighting foods.
The team at SilverStripe is a mix of hardcore health nuts, and people who just want to make a few changes for the better. It’s been a few days and so far, no one has cried or broken their pact, so that seems like huge success to me (so far, of course)! We have people giving up Burger Fuel, pledging to make all their meals homemade, and some crazy folks giving up their triple-a-day coffee habit.
We’ll be doing regular updates over the month, so you can hear all about our cravings and hopefully, our success!
