We are delighted to welcome our fifth North American professional partner: Innis Maggiore, a full-service advertising agency, located near Canton, Akron, and Cleveland in the United States. Innis Maggiore is “the nation's leading ad agency in the practice of positioning” and has been using SilverStripe Content Management System (CMS) since 2011.
Powered by SilverStripe CMS, the agency has built and developed sites for more than 30 organisations including Stark County District Library, Ichor Restaurant Group, Greenport Financial Advisors and Howard & O’Brien.
“Our clients like the usability of this very user-friendly content management system,” said Jason Sypolt, senior web developer at Innis Maggiore. “From a development perspective, it allows us to rapidly build and change website structure and content. Because it’s open source, it’s in a constant state of development. This means we can improve the system and fix bugs, submit to the main code repository and if SilverStripe accepts the changes, it’s available to everyone and everyone benefits.”
To find out more about our newest partner, we talked with Mark Vandegrift, Principal (Web & Digital Marketing) from Innis Maggiore...
How did you discover SilverStripe?
We were working on an SDL Tridion implementation for a Goodyear Latin America e-commerce site with a European counterpart. Just through general discussions about the different Content Management Systems (CMS) we employed, he mentioned SilverStripe and raved about it. We researched it and decided to try a few small “test” implementations. Our developers loved it for its light overhead, modern features and easy-to-use content management interface. Thus began our SilverStripe adventure.
How does your agency currently use SilverStripe?
We use SilverStripe for about 75% of our website projects because most of our clients require custom design and development. We typically have significant work on other platforms in terms of billable percentage, but in terms of sheer numbers, SilverStripe is deployed in the bulk of our web work, from landing pages to enterprise-level websites.
Why do you recommend clients use SilverStripe over other options?
We find the admin interface to be the easiest for content managers to use. The feedback has been 100% positive versus some of the other CMSs we’ve deployed. The feature set continues to expand without cluttering up the interface, and there are more and more add-ons available every day due to the growing developer community.
For our developers, it’s extremely easy to develop within, due to the use of modern design patterns, a powerful ORM, and an excellent developer community willing to assist with troubleshooting issues that arise. Plus, integrations with SOLR and other third-party platforms have been painless with SilverStripe.
Biggest milestone in the past year for your agency?
We celebrated our 40th anniversary as an agency, and our 20th year deploying digital properties.
Why did you want to join the SS Partner program?
We just partnered, so we don’t know perfectly how it will help us, but we are anticipating leads coming for SilverStripe based on our own marketing efforts as well as referrals from the corporate SilverStripe office. We want to see the use of SilverStripe expand in the US.
What goals do you hope to achieve with Innis Maggiore and SilverStripe in the next year?
We would like to begin implementing much larger enterprise-level digital properties on SilverStripe. We have already deployed three enterprise-size projects (North Canton City Schools, Stark County District Library and Aultman Hospital), but we would expect even larger projects as a result of our partnership.
What would be your dream client to work with?
Innis Maggiore enjoys working with clients of all sizes but we are most efficient and cost-effective for Fortune 1000 clients because we have all primary marketing disciplines under roof. We understand digital business and yet know the importance of brand-building using any medium—online and offline.
Locally, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is expanding to become something akin to a Disney theme park, and this type of client would be an ideal one for Innis Maggiore. Nationally and globally, we have broad expertise in the health industry, higher education, building materials industry and financial services.
