Sorry about the above link. I decided to close that site due to other commitments. However, because I am now getting hundreds of 404's for that url each week, I have reposted the tutorial here:

I am having the same issue installing it to my own linux server which has mod_rewrite installed, I played around for an hour or two and now am giving up.
It's too bad as silverstripe looked promising particularly with the php installer but it crashed and burned.
moving on to another product...bye
