I have just started the tutorials. I am going to be building a fairly involved portal site and I would like to find out now if there are any showstoppers. The site will have different sections about restaurants, events, real estate, opinions, etc. Users will sign up to add and edit info in sections, but will not have access to the CMS. How should I go about creating these membership login areas in Silverstripe? Are there any limitations or difficulties with Silverstripe that I should be forewarned about?

Your advice and opinions are highly appreciated.

Sounds great; I suggest looking at how the Permissions system works out of the box, and how the forum system works. This will show you how people can login, register, edit profiles, edit their posts and only their posts, et al... which is much like someone editing their restaurant profile, etc.
